Railroads Illustrated is happy to announce its fifth “Seasonal Day In North America” for the 2024 annual. Once again, you’ll have four opportunities to photograph your favorite railroads. For the first time, we have selected two weekday events. This will open up opportunities to photograph some short line and regional railroads that don’t operate on weekends. The first is the fall DINA and the second is the summer DINA. The winter and spring events will be held on a Saturday.

Take advantage of all four dates and submit your best images from fall, winter, spring, and summer. Following last year’s format, we’ll start with fall and end with summer just before the annual goes to press. You’ll have up to four weeks after each date to send in your pictures. You may submit up to three images for each season. So mark your calendars now and please note the submission dates:

Fall DINA — Friday, October 20, 2023
Submission Deadline: November 20, 2023

Winter DINA — Saturday, January 27, 2024
Submission Deadline: February 27, 2024

Spring DINA — Saturday, April 20, 2024
Submission Deadline: May 20, 2024

Summer DINA — Wednesday, June 26, 2024
Submission Deadline: July 3, 2024

DINA Feedback

Railroads Illustrated is looking for your feedback regarding future dates for Seasonal DINA. We would like to know if you prefer Saturdays (as has been the case for all DINA events since its inception), or if a change to weekdays on some dates is an option. Some railfans live close to short lines that do not operate on weekends. For those who have participated and correspond regularly, please drop the editor a note, and we will consider any changes that might provide additional opportunities for DINA. Thank you!
